I truly love the song by Toby Keith “I Wish I Didn’t Know Now“. Toby’s voice is perfect for this country love ballad! It has great depth and a smooth flow to just pull you in. This is a classic song with a genuine country sound.
The chords and guitar fills are a great compliment to Toby’s baritone sound which hits you in the heart when he captures the pain through his singing.
“I wish I didn’t know now what I didn’t know then. I wish we could start this whole thing over again.” I think this song specifically relates to cheating, but it can be applied to a variety of scenarios that lead to a break up. This is one of my favorite country songs and probably one of the songs that got me loving country music!
I think we can all relate to this song on some level…wishing we could have someone back…and that the pain could just disappear. But also knowing you can’t go down that road anymore because it will just lead back to pain. Having to deal with the heartache and the reminders, wishing things had gone differently. It is not easy but it is good to know we are not alone in the challenges of life and love.
